Manuscript Assessment
Best for: Writers seeking developmental feedback before diving into revisions.
What it includes:
A manuscript assessment is a big-picture editorial report that focuses on the overall structure, pacing, plot, character development, and thematic depth of your story. I’ll identify what’s working well and where the manuscript could be stronger, with clear, actionable suggestions to guide your next draft.
You’ll receive:
-
A comprehensive editorial letter (usually 4–8+ pages)
-
Comments in the manuscript highlighting key moments or areas to reconsider
-
Optional: a follow-up email Q&A to clarify feedback
This service doesn’t include sentence-level editing or corrections. It’s ideal if your draft is complete but not quite ready for copyediting.
Copy Edit
Best for: Writers with a solid draft who are ready to fine-tune language, grammar, and clarity.
What it includes:
A copy edit focuses on the technical side of your writing while preserving your unique voice. I’ll correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and word usage, ensure consistency in style and formatting, and flag any confusing or unclear sentences.
You’ll receive:
-
A fully edited Word document with tracked changes
-
Comments explaining suggested changes when needed
-
A style sheet noting editorial decisions, preferred spellings, and character/place details
This service is ideal before typesetting or formatting, especially if you’ve already revised and received developmental feedback.
Line & Copy Edit Combo
Best for: Writers who want to elevate their prose as well as fix errors.
What it includes:
This is my most in-depth editing service. It combines all the benefits of a copy edit with a stylistic line edit. I’ll look at each sentence with care to improve rhythm, flow, tone, and clarity, all while correcting technical issues and ensuring consistency throughout.
You’ll receive:
-
A line-by-line edit with tracked changes and suggestions
-
Commentary where needed to explain edits or offer optional rewrites
-
A custom style sheet for reference and consistency
This is a great choice for authors who want their writing to read smoothly and professionally without losing its personality.
Proofread
Best for: Final checks before publication or formatting.
What it includes:
Proofreading is the last stage in the editing process. I’ll review your manuscript for surface-level errors like typos, punctuation mistakes, extra spaces, and formatting inconsistencies.
You’ll receive:
-
A clean, lightly marked-up manuscript with all corrections tracked
-
Peace of mind that your book is ready to publish
This service is best for manuscripts that have already been professionally edited and are close to final.

Understanding Error Catch Rates
No one is flawless, not even editors.
On average, the top catch rate in the editing industry is 95%. This percentage can vary depending on factors such as the quality of the manuscript, the number of editing rounds, time constraints, and budget limitations.
After the manuscript is returned to the author, the editor is no longer responsible for mistakes that may arise during revisions or for suggested changes the author decides to ignore.
Additionally, editing isn’t always black and white. What one editor might mark as incorrect, another might recognise as a deliberate stylistic choice, highlighting the subjective nature of the process.
